Fast Careers That Pay Well

If you are looking for a career that moves fast, and you can climb the ranks quickly, then look no further then the list we have compiled. There are so many careers out there were it takes you years and years of sucking up just to earn a promotion. Not with these careers. They are designed to move you up the corporate ladder quickly, and you will soon find yourself in a position of power and money. Keep your head down and work hard, and these are some careers that you really make some moves.

Fast Careers That Pay Well: Management And Sales

The first career that we will talk about is a management and sales career track. In sales its all about performance, and if you can show that you can perform and bring in the cash, you will be rewarded. Usually top salesmen, will quickly be promoted up the ladder and will be put in management positions. Depending on your company, you could be pulling in over six figures before you are 30 years old if you play your cards right.

Fast Careers That Pay Well: Engineering Careers

If you are a bright young engineer, you can find yourself quickly moving up the ranks of your company. Engineering is currently highly demanded, and many senior engineers are beginning to retire, so there is a gap that needs to be filled. Engineers are being tempted with high signing bonuses and promise to quickly ascend the corporate ladder. Electrical engineers and mechanical engineers, are the most highly sought after engineering careers right now.

Fast Careers That Pay Well: Finance and Accounting

Finance and accounting careers were hit hard during the recession, and many companies were forced to lay off many employees. That trend is slowly shifting and finance and accounting firms are beginning to hire once again. The problem they are facing, is a lack of middle management. Many managers who had high salaries, were laid off and replaced with lower salaried individuals. Now that hiring is picking back up, these companies are beginning to realize there is once again a need for these managers. Quickly breaking into an entry level finance or accounting job, and being promoted withing a few years to a manager position, is quite possible due to the current state of most firms. Keep your head down and work hard, and you can see yourself rewarded very quickly out of college.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5

The first step that you need to take is to organize your work history and education into a resume and cover letter. Do not underestimate this step as it is one of the most important and you must learn how to create yourself in a positive light in only one page. Most resumes are glanced over and separated very quickly only to be read fully later on. Not being able to pass the first glance resume test will dramatically reduce your odds of getting interviews. Here are a few things that will ding a resume on a glace test:

Crazy Resume Formatting- Keep it clean and simple, your resume should be one page and should be easy to read and understand.

Low GPA- If you have less than a 3.5 GPA keep it off your resume. If you have a low GPA you want this issue to come up in the interview so you can defend it, not when your resume will be filtered into a pass or fail pile.

Too Much Noise- Remember that a glance test will skim through your resume in few seconds. Long paragraphs and descriptions will get you dinged. Make sure you have sharp crisp sentences with bullet points that highlight your strengths.

The next step that most employers will take is to file your resume into a pass pile, in which it will than receive a more in depth review. This is where you really need to maximize your strengths and hide your weaknesses. You need to come off as the best employee ever, even If you have no related coursework or experience. So how exactly do you make this happen—Its all in the description. You need to make sure every sentence counts and makes you seem like a great employee.

For example:
If you are trying to obtain an entry level position in Finance or an internship and your only work experience is at a fast food restaurant, you will need to spice up your resume.

Instead of saying- Worked at xxxx restaurant and was in charge of the drive through cashier.
Spice it up- Handled upwards of $500 in cash and was responsible for managing the velocity of customers. Worked and coordinated with team members to ensure customer satisfaction.

Now we are not saying to flat out lie… That will get in you trouble but we do recommend to spice up your resume to get your interviewers attention. Remember the goal is to get as many interviews as possible.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5

As the economy continues to struggle, and unemployment remains high many new college graduates and unemployed workers are having a hard time finding employment. Many are forced to work part time jobs or high turnover sales jobs just to make ends meat. While you should count your blessing that you have a paycheck coming in each month, the job market for workers who know how to job search has never been hotter. Since the recession, companies have been forced to layoff many workers and have slowly been hiring each month.

New employee hires have never been more of an investment for a company then today, as companies look to expand but keep their budget in line. This means that you need to prove your “value” to these companies and justify the salary that you will be earning. All you need to do is provide more value than your competition and you can find your dream job. While this sounds simple it is actually quite complicated and like most talents, it will take hard work and doesn’t come overnight. The good news for you is that interviewing for positions is a numbers game and it only takes one job offer for you to land a position. You just need to know where to look and what skills to sharpen in order to land the job of your choosing.

Having multiple job offers from different jobs is a powerful feeling and allows you to command a larger salary as you will be completely detached during salary negotiation. While there is no secret formula for success, we have worked with many different potential candidates and have come up with a plan for increasing your odds and improving your interviews. If you can follow these steps and put in the required work you can increase your interviews and job offers and prove you are more “valuable” then your competition. Here is a quick breakdown of each step:
